When we started the Outer Banks Mom Approved program, the goal was to simply create a little black book of local restaurants that make dining out with children a little bit easier. The places on our list are our go-to’s when we’re taking the family out for a meal so when it came to Two Roads Tavern in Kill Devil Hills, we knew we needed to include them on the list!
We love Two Roads for so many reasons! First of all, the local owners are great people with kids of their own and you can clearly see that they paid close attention to the details that make it a great place for families. Two Roads probably has the most reasonably priced kids meals on the beach and they offer healthy options and side dishes that make all of our kids happy! One of the things that always stands out is that even our pickiest eater, who currently exists solely off of hot dogs, leaves happy! Our kids love that their side dishes are some of their favorite options like raw carrots or green beans. Tiny Lulu gets a little territorial of her plate because it’s all just so delish!
Aside from fairly priced meals, you can also expect friendly service and an incredibly clean atmosphere which is a huge requirement for me! While we wait for our food, our kids love to check out the vintage gear that is around the restaurant. Then, they’re back to the comfortable booth to color and enjoy an appetizer like Joey’s favorite, Chipotle Shrimp Dip!
My guys are crazy about their unique burgers and I love their Carolina Pickle Brine. We were so excited to see that they just started a daily happy hour from 3-5pm with $5 appetizers and my favorite pickle brine was added to this menu as a slider! While we love taking the kids to Two Roads, my husband and I snuck off and enjoyed their new happy hour last week and had the best time! Sometimes, Mom Approved means afternoon date approved, too! :)
