It’s been kind of quiet around the Outer Banks Mom blog lately. The quietness is partially because it’s “busy season” around here. As a business owner, I hit the ground running on Memorial Day and I haven’t taken a break since. Add in 3 kids who are all off of school for the summer and you’re basically looking at two full time jobs.
One thing that my husband and I always promise each other at the beginning of each summer is that no matter how hectic the workload gets, we will always make time for date night. One of our best date nights to date was heading out on the brand new sailboat, Surfer Girl, out of Duck. We headed over to NorBanks Sailing & Watersports for the 2 hour sunset cruise for a group date with great friends.
When we arrived we met the owner of the boat, Hardy, and Captain Billy who greeted us and gave us all of the safety details that we needed for a great experience. We were permitted to bring our own snacks and libations so with a packed cooler, we hopped on a small Boston Whaler and headed out to the 38 foot catamaran.
We had such a relaxing sail while enjoying the beautiful view of Duck from the water. The forward trampolines and bean bags on Surfer Girl were such a comfortable place to watch the sunset and lounge while catching up with friends.
This date night will be one that I will always remember because we were celebrating the news that we are expecting baby number 4!
By the end of the sail, the sky had turned to beautiful pink and orange and we headed back to Nor’Banks. My husband and I headed out for a late bite to eat on our own and couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the sunset is from the water and dreaming about owning our own sailboat someday. In the meantime, we’re adding sailing lessons with Hardy and East Coast Sailboats to our Fall date ideas! He offers lessons to all ages and camps for youth that we can’t wait to get our girls into in a few short years. We’ve heard friends rave about the youth camps and know that our water-obsessed girls would love it.
Surfer Girl is available for daytime cruises and the evening sunset cruise as well as private sails for your family or next event!
